Carla Alleyne received a B.F.A. and a M.F.A. in Film and Television and Dramatic Writing from New York University. Born in Trinidad, tWest Indies, and raised on Army bases across the United States, Alleyne began writing plays at the tender age of 13. Throughout high school, Carla's plays have been staged and workshopped for such theatrical organizations as The Writers Theatre, The CityKids Foundation, and T.R.Y. (Theatre Rehabilitation for Youth). At age 16, Carla's play HEY, LITTLE WALTER won the NATIONAL YOUNG PLAYWRIGHTS FESTIVAL. Walter received a full staged production at the Off-Broadway theatre Playwrights Horizon. Walter has been published in HEY, LITTLE WALTER AND OTHER PRIZE WINNING PLAYS by Dell Books. Carla is currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Young Playwrights Festival with the likes of Alfred Uhry, David Henry Hwang, Wendy Wasserstein, Stephen Sondheim, and George C. Wolfe.

While attending New York University Carla began her professional career as a screenwriter. In her freshman year she wrote the screenplay FINDING CASANOVA BROWN. In her sophomore year Carla collaborated on the musical BRING IN THE MORNING, the sequel to the Broadway play THE ME NOBODY KNOWS. The play was produced at the Apollo Theater in November 1994, starring LAURYN HILL. It was the Apollo's first theatrical production. In her junior year, out of an NYU dorm room, Carla produced and directed KEEP IT REAL, a well received public access show, in which she conducted the first interview ever with the NOTORIOUS B.I.G..

In graduate school, Carla wrote AYANA'S GROOVE (this is the first draft of the motion picture HONEY) commissioned by MOTOWN/POLYGRAM Motion Picture Division. Post NYU, Carla has directed several Music Videos, Industrials, and Electronic Press Kits, including MCA recording artist MONIFAH'S Electronic Press Kit, and Lethal Records rap artists, PUNK BARBARIANS "Blast Off" and "Hooptie Car" music videos. Under the pseudonym "ROSEBUD" Carla has directed music videos for SONY 550 recording artist DEMOND and RCA recording artists SYLK-E-FYNE and CHILL's Billboard hit "Romeo and Juliet" through production company FM ROCKS.


Carla, a New York State Certified teacher, has taught playwriting and drama to public middle school students in the Bronx. Carla’s mentorship in playwriting has led many of her students to become award winners yearly in the Young Playwrights Competition. Carla has directed a 2005 version of “Hey, Little Walter,” as well as the 2006 version of student Cindy Vo’s “Differences” at Frank D. Whalen Creative Arts Academy for Media Studies. Carla is currently working on a Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership at Oral Robert University. Carla is the CEO of the Scarlet Cord Initiative Screenwriter’s Workshop, production company Scarlet Cord Entertainment, and designer of clothing line Arm Candy Culture Inc. ™.

Actress and Talent Relations. A native New Yorker, Shai began her acting career at the age of 14 when she performed in the Junior High school production of WEST SIDE STORY. Her professional debut was in LIGHT IN THE CELLAR at the Harlem Renaissance Community Theater at age 15. Shai continued performing in several school and professional productions. She studied at the School for Film & Television, Sidra Smith Acting Workshop and Tasha Smith Scene Study Workshop in New York. She appeared in an AMERICAN EXPRESS Commercial and worked on an infomercial
with actress/singer Sheryl Lee Ralph which is still airing. She has starred in the independent feature film THE FASHION SHOW. She also appeared on such television shows as SEX IN THE CITY and LAW & ORDER. Shai co-starred in THE SHOP at Newark Symphony Hall. She has just concluded shooting an indie film Pointing Fingers and also shot a Public Service Announcement for Cancer Research at Overlook Hospital. She co-produced the one woman’s show Zora returns to Harlem and a Black History production called Yes We Can – from Slavery to Victory.

Barbara began her career in the entertainment industry with MTV NETWORKS/NICKELODEON. During her eight years with the company, Barbara supervised and produced numerous on air promos and half hour shows. Her credits in television production include: Pete-n- Pete Valentine & Halloween Specials, Nick Takes Over Your School, Nickelodeon’s Black History Special, Nick-at-Nite Classic TV Countdown with Casey Kasem, Bill Daily, & Dick Van Dyke, Nick New Year with Clarissa, the Kid’s Choice Awards with Whitney Houston, and True Stories from Famous People with Tevin Campbell. Barbara attended New York University for Film and Video, is a graduate of Pace University and has a Master of Science in Direct Marketing Communications. She is presently, a member of New York Women in Film & Television.
