THE SCARLET CORD INITIATIVE
"Writing Movies with the Kingdom in Mind"
New York, New York – March 3, 2009. Scarlet Cord Entertainment, a Christian film production company that is focused on bringing back morals and values into the film and entertainment industry, is now accepting applications for its basic screenwriting course, starting April 1, 2009 in New York City. The Scarlet Cord Initiative is 10 weeks of intensive instruction on the fundamentals of screenwriting from a Kingdom perspective. This workshop will be taught by Christian playwright and screenwriter Carla Debbie Alleyne.
Carla Debbie Alleyne received a B.F.A. and a M.F.A. in Film and Television and Dramatic Writing from New York University, Tisch School of the Arts. Carla is currently working on a Doctorate of Educational Leadership at Oral Roberts University. Carla's screenplay FINDING CASANOVA BROWN was optioned by HBO and later acquired by MIRAMAX FILMS. Carla has written numerous screenplays, including COMING OF AGE for JERMAINE DUPRI of SO SO DEF/COLUMBIA Records. Carla also wrote, while still in Graduate School, AYANA'S GROOVE (this was the first draft of the motion picture HONEY) commissioned by MOTOWN/POLYGRAM Motion Picture Division.
The Scarlet Cord Initiative is much more than a screenwriter’s workshop. It is a cinematic mentorship program that will mobilize Christian screenwriters to take dominion in the mission field of Hollywood. You will learn how to integrate your faith, your prayer life, and your art form, giving the Holy Spirit all access to your experience as a writer. You will be given keys to unlock your future as a screenwriter in the entertainment industry. There is a supernatural shift going on in the world today, and God has started serving from the back of the line. Has God placed the desire within you to be a part of His new media army? Do you have an idea for a movie that has been ruminating in your mind for years? Well, now is the time for that movie idea to be birthed forth.
Scarlet Cord Initiative can only accept 12 students for this pilot course, and the course will be offered at half the intended rate. The application process is competitive so please fill out the workshop submission form below and submit for our review. Carla will work as your personal writing coach, instructing you on how to take that God idea into the first draft of a script. You will have the opportunity to share your work with other writers, learn good writing habits, as well as hear a portion of your work read by professional actors at the end of the course.
